Student Led Conference

Today we had our annual Student Led Conference. Families were enthusiastic to see how there children were doing in there learning throughout this year. Everyone shared their learning goals on there Chromebooks. Here is some photo's of Student Led Conference.

Characterisation...

One of our reading tasks for today was to create a Birds Eye View. My reading group and I read a book named: White Fang, and now we have to pick one of the Characters in this story. We need to create a Birds Eye View on how we think there bedrooms would look like. Scroll downwards to see my Birds Eye View.

Inspirational Leader- Abraham Licoln

Mrs Tupou did a presentation with the class and I about Inspirational Leaders. On the presentation there were different types of leaders that might inspire us, like: Abraham Lincoln, Nelson Mandela,Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa,Mahatma Ghandi and so on. Mrs Tupou said that we need to make a presentation about one of these people, or someone that inspires us. I have picked Abraham LIncohn for my presentation, my presentation is now completed my presentation, Have a look.

My Holidays!

Throughout the holidays I had so much fun. I went to the movies, I did ice skating, I went temple bowling, I went bounce and beyond, my holidays were so fun. Wait hold up I forgot something I did, oh yeah thats it, I did Winter Learning Journey. If you were looking at my blog you probably saw that I was doing Winter Learning Journey. Winter Learning Journey is programme were you learn during the holidays. You get given 3 activities everyday that you need to complete. I had so much fun these holidays, How about you?.

Winter Learning Journey- Saturday- Bonus Activity

For my bonus activity I need to watch three of the all blacks Haka's. Then I need to rate them from best to not so best. I have watched the three videos and, I have rated them down below, Have a look.

1.The first best was the Rugby World Cup 2011- All Blacks vs France, I rate this 5 out of 5.
2.The second best for me was the All Blacks vs South Africa 2016. I rate this 4 out of 5.
3.The third best for me was the World Cup 2015- All Blacks vs Argentina. I give this 3 out of 5.

Winter Learning Journey-Saturday- Activity 2

For activity two I went on this site called Matariki festival at Te papa. I had a looked at some of the events that were held there and, they look fun. I have to tell you guys three events  found interesting or liked reading about on the site.

The 3 event I enjoyed looking at were:

• I enjoyed looking at the Kapa Haka photo's
• Some crafting pictures (you could do some crafting)
• and 1 of the photo's look like there's 2 girls singing so, I think that would be interesting to look at.

I know this is quite plane but I am in a rush at the moment so I need to get these activities done:).

Winter Learning Journey- Saturday- Activity

Today is Saturday and one of my task for Winter Learning Journey is to write a poem of how I would feel if I just arrived to New Zealand. (Why would I write a poem about this?), I am writing a poem about this because I am pretending If I were one of the Maori people who arrived at NZ in their canoes (also know as waka's). This is not really a poem but, It still talks about my feelings.If you would like to read my poem go ahead and have a look.

Winter Learning Journey-Friday- Bonus Activity

 Rachel (the person who created Winter Learning Journey)  went for a bike ride at Otago central rail trail. She enjoyed this bike ride and gave me a task about this Rail trail. On my blog I need to post if I would like to got to this Rail Trail and, If I think this place sound's fun. I also need to write why or why not, have a look.

I looked at some photo's from this Rail Trail and it look's so fun. This place looks fun because there's bridges to ride on, even while your riding your bike you can look at the tree's, and the water. This place look's very interesting I might even go one day with my family. Have a look at some photo's I saw.

Today is Friday and for activity 2 I need to find and research about a famous New Zealander. I then need to make a Digital Learning Object about this person and include there, name, where they were born, why there famous, and 2 interesting facts about them. Winter Learning Journey- Friday- Activity 1

Today is Friday and one of my tasks for Winter Learning Journey is to create a story with 8-10 sentences.( I sort of wrote more than 8-10 sentences.I am writing a short story because, I am pretending I was walking through a reserve with a group of my friends and, suddenly when I turn around they all disappeared. If you would like to hear my story keep reading.

"Haha funny guys, you nearly got me there, but good try",I observe in the vicinity hearing nothing but dead silence. "huuuu,(sigh) "okay fine you got me come out now", "hurry up!" I constantly yell with annoyance. " Guys, where are use", I glare around taking a few steps at a time, where could they be?, how did I lose them? I question my self. I stroll around the reserve continually calling there names. Suddenly I hear laughter in the distance, " yeah laugh all you want, I can hear you guys". I pursue the laughter and, lead to an unfamiliar place. I view a brown corroded sign with a hut beside it, I casually parade to the sign.I gradually say out the faded words on the sign " If you need help come and talk to me, I'm in the hut". " Yes finally, I can get some help", " Hello, can you please help me?, I got lost in the reserve, "sure, whats your name? and where did you get lost?, " my name is Isabella, I got lost at this really cool tree, it's sort of near the start of the reserve. " Oh okay, is the tree big?, "yes it is and it look's really cool", "okay that information really helped, did you follow the curious kiwi?, "yes I reply with enthusiasm, " yep your friend came in a couple of minutes ago they were looking for you". "One of them gave me there numbers just in case you came here, I going to call them, just wait a sec", "Thank you very much"," your welcome".(3 minutes later) "Isabella it's me Charlotte", "thank goodness your here", " come on let's go".

Winter Learning Journey- Thursday- Bonus Activity

For my bonus activity I need to write why I think fisherman shouldn't kill and capture hector dolphins. I also need to write if I think it should be banned or not. If you want to hear my opinion keep reading.

I think fisherman should stop killing and capturing hector dolphins because they should have the chance to live there lives like every other living thing. Yes fishermen should be banned from doing this, it's cruel and not a nice thing to do.

Winter Learning Journey- Thursday- Activity 1

For activity 1 I went on this website called: Farewell spit link, I went on this site to learn about the whales that were stuck at golden bay. I then have to describe to you guys what the local people tried to do to save the whales. Have a look!!!!!!!

Things the local people did to help:

• They put bucket of water on them to keep them wet
• They also covered them

Winter Learning Journey- Wednesday- Bonus activity

For my bonus activity I have to go on this site named: Wild eye's. I have to complete a mission called: Giant Moa Discovery to get bonus points. Once I have finished the mission I have to take a picture of my Moa. Sadly I do not have all the supplies so I couldn't create my own Moa but, I will try get the supplies asap.

Winter Learning Journey- Wednesday- Activity 2

For activity 2 I have to give you guys reasons why I think People in New Zealand shouldn't kill possums. The people of New Zealand are trying to kill all the possums because they are eating the native tree's leaves. If you want here my opinion why I disagree about them doing this keep reading.

I think that it's not right to kill the possums because that's quite cruel. I think instead of killing them just capture them and take them back to Australia. It's quite cruel to kill animals so I think the people of New Zealand should just capture them and take them back.

Winter Learning Journey- Wednesday-Activity 1

My tasks for Wednesday on Winter Learning Journey is to create my own native animal.I then have to post on blog and show you guys.

So the animal that I have chose is a Brown Kiwi and, her name is Sparkle. My Kiwi eats seeds, grubs, worms, fruit and, eels. Sparkle live's with me ( Why do she live with me?) ,She lives with me because I found her alone in the amazon forest. (Yes I went there) So that's a bit about Sparkle my brown kiwi, I hope you enjoyed.

Winter Learning Journey- Tuesday- Activity 2

For activity 2 I have to pretend I am interveiwing Laura Dekker. Laura Dekker is a young german girl who sailed around the world by herself. I then have to pretend I am going to visit her, I have to list down 5 questions I would ask her. Have a look!

Winter Learning Journey- Tuesday Activity 1

Today is Tuesday and here I have is another task For Winter Learning Journey.I have to learn about the places that are in Rangitoto, Tane Matua and Karekare beach, I then have to write about why I enjoyed visiting the place. Have a look!

3 places I enjoyed going to:

1. Rangitoto's Island scenic reserve:

The reason I liked this place was because there was loads of things you could do. There's a wharf there, this place would be good to go for summer/spring, you could jump of the wharf. Also there was a beach another good place for summer/spring, you could have a refreshing swim. There is loads of things you could do.

2. Tane Mahuta Walk:

The reason why Tane Mahuta walk is my 2nd choice is because this place looks good to do some exercising. There is a walkway with tree's and bushes on the side of it. You can enjoy a beautiful walk full of nature.

3.Karekare beach:

Kaekare is my 3rd choice because you can enjoy a nice walk along the beach and, maybe even have a swim. I have seen on some images that there is a mountain so, maybe you could climb up there and look at the great view.

Did you know the flag of New Zealand was created in 1902. It has four red stars with white borders on the right, it also had red,white and blue stripe's in the top left corner.. This flag was created in 1869, and was given statutory recognition in 1902.

One of the activities for Winter Learning Journey is to create a new flag of your own. I had to create a flag because Last year's prime minister had and idea of trying to make a new flag.

Today we got given a slide deck. We had to listen to a soundtrack and explain what we thought it was. We then watched the video to see if we were close. After listening and watching the video we had got given questions to answer. Here is the work.

Holidays!

Today is the last day of term 2 for Glen Taylor.Today room 11 is cleaning the class room for one block, and then we are going to watch a movie and eat pizza YUM!. I hope everyone is going to have a wonderful holidays :).

Room 11's Fundraising idea!

In term 3 the seniors have a trip. Miss Tupou told us that it will cost $12 each person for the trip, there is siblings in this school so it would be quite a lot of money. We decided to do fundraising so we make the price go lower, Miss Tupou gave us a padlet for all of us to put our ideas on. Have a look! :).

Samoan Language Week!

A couple of weeks ago it was Samoan Language Week. My Teacher wanted to teach us a few words in the Samoan language so, we watched a few videos. Every sentence, number, and word we learnt we would write it down in a doc so we can keep track. If you scroll down you will see my doc full of Samoan language, Have a look!.

Inquiry Presentations

This term our focus for inquiry is " My part in the Community". We all had made up 6-8 questions and researched about them. Last term we all presented it on slides but, this term Miss Tupou told us to present it in a different way. I am going to present it on imovie, Sorry I do not have a picture but, I will try get one sooner.

Technology

For tech today we are creating our own takeaway noodle box.We have to colour the noodle box, add the prices for each food, and add a lot of detail. I have been working on this for a couple of weeks now and I'm enjoy it. At the moment I am not finish but, I will show you it when it's completed. Have a look at my noodle box!

Today the seniors had went to the hall to do some, activities, games and talking with a lawyer name: Mike Hendricksen. (Hmm Why was Mike Hendricksen at Glen Taylor?, Let me tell you.) Mike Hendricksen came to our school talk to us about being good leaders, and never giving up. At the end of the session what to to ask him some question, Here are some photo's.

Revolting Recipe

This term we have been focusing on procedural writing. Let me remind what procedural writing is, Procedural writing is a type of writing when your explaining or instructing something to someone.Miss Tupou gave us a doc named Slimy Soup, we read through this doc and then created our   own. If you look to the left you will see my Slimy Soup   procedural writing.

The girl and the fox

Last term my class and I had watched a small film called the girl and the fox. Our tasks was to write a small description about the film. Have a look at my narrative.

Class Photo

A few weeks ago Glen Taylor had class photo's. We had to hop into a shortest to tallest line so it was easier for our photographer. He then put us into our places, and told us if we had to sit or stand. Cheese he said,FLASH.......... Have a look at our BEAUTIFUL class photo :).

Star Sign Bar Graph

For maths our tasks was to create a Star Sign graph of Room 11. We had to transfer the bar graph on our books into a digital version on our Chromebooks. We had to choose to create it on a website Miss Tupou gave us or, to use google drawing. I had created mine on a google drawing, have a look!

Ways to create a unique password....

In the beginning of the term, our tasks with Mrs Grant was to make a comic strip either about:

• How to create an unique password
• Reusing images
• Using a Chromebook faster

I had chosen to create a comic strip about " How to make a unique password". I added photo's into this comic strip, while student were working on their Chromebooks. Take a look at my Amazing comic strip :).

Square Artwork

Last term Room 11 had created square with things ,that involve what we love to do, our family and, about ourselves. We had to add lots colour and, make sure you couldn't see any white. Miss Tupou wanted to create the squares in to the 11 number because, it represents us and our class. Have a look!!!

This term we are focusing on " My Community" for our inquiry.  We all got given a wonder bubble and, we had to write something we wonder about in the community or, we want to know more about.

In the beginning of term 2 Room 11 had made acceptable and Unacceptable 2 posters. Each person got 2 sticky notes and, had to write what we think is acceptable and unacceptable. Have a look at our posters.

Inquiry poster-Rodents and Streams

For inquiry in Term 1 our topic was Rodents and Streams. Miss Tupou assigned to create a google doc about Rodent and Streams,with a big question and, sub questions. We then had to make a poster on A4 paper,with our questions on it. After we had completed those 2 subjects, we also had to create a google slides and, be really creative with it. At Glen Taylor we have four values, Fun, Integrity , Respect, and Excellence. Glen Taylor is having a competition on which student can create the best logo for our school. Before we had created our poster we had got given a doc and had to write a paragraph of what we think F.I.R.E is. I had completed my                                                                            doc have a look.
