Whiz Kids Program

At Glen Taylor every Thursdays after school some student participate in a program called Whiz Kids. Whiz Kids is a program were you learn about science and do science, every student from our school had to pay $8 to join the program. Last week they had a Whiz Kids session so I thought I would show you guys some photo's, I might also show you guys some photo's next week.

Country Challenge

For homework we got a new tasks named Country Challenge. For this challenge I had to list countries in alphabetical order. I got every letter but, If any of these countries are cities just comment down below and let me know. I made a google drawing to show my list, have a look!

Proverb of the Week #2

This weeks Proverb of The Week clue was United we stand, Divided we fall. I searched up the exact words, I looked through images and sites and the answer I found was IT IS BETTER TO STICK TOGETHER. When I first read the hint I kind of thought of something including sticking together so, I was quite close. I asked my teacher If I was right and she said "Yes". I made a simple google drawing with the proverb.

Would you rather... #2

For Homework we had another Would you rather. This weeks one was Would you rather travel to 10 different countries in 10 days or one country on your choice for a week? I had pick to go to Bora Bora in one week, I have created a google drawing why have a look.

Famous Person-Mother Teresa

One of our tasks this week was called Famous Person. Every week our teacher picks a famous person and our job is to find out Where they live/lived? , What did he/she do? and find 3 facts about her/him. My famous person was Mother Teresa, instead of showing you guys a boring doc I had decided to put it on a google drawing. Have a look!

Tamaki College Experience Day For Yr8's

On Wednesday the 30th of August the year 8's at Glen Taylor school had the chance to go down to Tamaki College. They went to Tamaki College to experience how its going to be when they go college. The year 9's that use to come to Glen Taylor showed the year 8's around. Here is some photo's.

Cooking at Tech

Today we had tech and, as you guys know I'm now in cooking class. Today we had made OREO MILKSHAKES! Before we made our milkshakes everyone put on aprons and had to pick a buddy to make there milkshake with. My buddies where Amy and Hela. Our Oreo Milkshakes where so delicious, I'm definitely going to make these again at home. I don't have any photos during the session but, I am going to show you guys a similar photo of what it look like.

Maritime Museum!

Today Room 11, Room 12 and Room 7 had a trip to Maritime Museum. We looked at so many amazing things. Everyone in my class got put into groups with an adult and explored the features of the museum. We also got given a paper and we had to find certain things, my group completed the paper.Here is some photo's of me and my group!

Inquiry Questions

For this term our focus for inquiry is Changing Landscapes. Today Miss Tupou assigned Room 11 to create our Inquiry Questions about Changing Landscapes. I have completed my questions and I would like to show you guys my questions , my questions are about volcanoes.

GTS is on FIRE!

At Glen Taylor we have four values, Fun, Integrity , Respect, and Excellence. Glen Taylor is having a competition on which student can create the best logo for our school. Before we had created our poster we had got given a doc and had to write a paragraph of what we think F.I.R.E is. I had completed my doc have a look.

Tech- Graphics

Our second class in technology is Graphics. Graphics is an art class where we basically do different types of art. We are going on to our next class which is COOKING!. Mostly everyone wants to go to Cooking because there's food. Well anyways we had finished our last day at Graphics and Mr Pineda took some photo's, have a look!

Would you rather...

One of our tasks for homework was called would you rather... Our question was would you rather have a private island in Bora Bora or, have a multi million mansion. For quick write a couple of weeks ago we had the choice of picking something to write for quick write. I found this picture with a title named world of ice. Obviously there's a photo of a world of ice. So I decided to write my quick write about this, have a look at my quick write!

Character Profiles

Last Week was Room 11's assembly. We read a book named Holes and at the end of the term we watched the movie. Before our assembly was about to happen we had to make google drawings about a person from the book. We also had to include facts about the person. On the day Miss Tupou made a presentation with some of our students google drawings. Feel free to scroll downwards and feel free to see the presentations.

Orienteering!

Today we had Orienteering with Leon and Irien. They put these little square boxes with letter on it all around the school. We got given maps and one paper ,we had to go find each square and write the letter  on the paper. Did you know.. we you do Orienteering always keep your map facing north, then it will be easier to do. We also had some help from my teacher and Iren and Leon.Here is some photos of our Session!

BNZ closed for good day

Today BNZ will be closed because there going to schools to talk about money. It was interesting learning about money hopefully other school we learn about money too. We had so much fun have a look at some photos!

Big Idea Show

Kawa Of Care

This morning Room 11 and 12 had a tasks to do together. We had got put in buddies and for the first block we had to work with them, My buddy was Sarah Jane. We had to go on a doc that was about Kawa Of Care, there was a few questions like Whats Kawa Of Care? and What sites should you be on?. After we had completed answering all those questions we had to create a google drawing about having a secure password, blogging, right place right time and being responsible. These all related to our Chromebook. Once everyone completed it we had to present our work to both classes. I and Sarah Jane didn't get chosen to read so, we will read tomorrow. Wonder

This term I and my class a reading a chapter book named WONDER!. Its a story about a kid who looks different to others and has a face that hes not comfortable about. He has had 27 surgeries on his face and he is soon going to school. He doesn't feel comfortable about going school because hes scared of what people will think of him. So yeah we are reading a book named wonder we might even get the chance to watch the movie. You guys should read this book and comment which page your up to!.

Active Learn & Reading Theory

Active Learn:
Active Learn is a reading site where you read books. Every page you read on the book you get coins. There is also games you can play but, you need to have coins to play them. (when I say coins I mean the earning coins). This is a cool site that you guys should join!

Reading theory:
Reading theory is a website were you read stories. After you read the story you have to answer questions and every question you get right is about 10- 15 points. You guys should go get these sites.

Sumdog & Maths Buddy

Sumdog:
Okay this is another website but this website is a learning website. This website is called Sumdog, Sumdog is a maths website that is very fun, there is maths games that you can play and every question you get right you get coins. You can also buy your character new clothes and decorate your own house. If you join sumdog make sure to have permission with your teacher, you can also play with your friends at school and even your teacher.

Maths Buddy:
Maths Buddy is another Maths website that can also help you improve in maths. You get given tasks everyday to complete. Sometimes you get subtraction, multiplication, division many task to complete. You also need teachers permission so He/She can also give you tasks and keep track on your scores.

Free Rice!

Hi Everyone! I am just letting you guys know about this website called FREE RICE!. Free Rice is a website that gives grains of rice to hungry people all around the world, what you have to do it answer questions and every question you get right is 10 grains. I think you guys should try this game out it will also show that you care for people that are starving. My highest score is 3100 so try beat my high score.

Research Topic - Take away Box

As you guys know for graphics we have been creating takeaway boxes. We had got given a doc, on this doc was a research topic. We had to make a copy of it and then do a research topic on our takeaway box. Here is my one.

Country of the week!- Homework

Proverb of the week -Homework

For homework this week one of our tasks was to find out what the PROVERB OF THE WEEK was. Obviously in the homework paper it wouldn't tell me the answer bu it gave me a hint. The hint was " Two wrongs don't make a right". I found the answer to this and its "Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else.".
